Why we created PAM-Card™
About This Work
We started this project because privacy is an important part of trust.
Like many people, we began noticing how often personal information is requested aloud in places where others are standing nearby: pharmacy counters, school offices, government desks, waiting rooms, and service counters.
The questions themselves are often routine. The setting can make the moment feel more public than intended.
Over time, a pattern became clear. People often want a small way to signal discretion without interrupting the interaction, creating tension, or having to explain themselves in front of others.
PAM-Card™ was created for that moment.
When placed alongside an ID, payment card, insurance card, form, or other check-in material, the card signals a preference for more discreet communication at the start of the interaction.
It is simple, visible, and easy to initiate.
It does not change anyone’s standards. It simply makes communication preferences easier to signal before the conversation moves too far forward.
PAM-Cards are designed for individuals and families who want a respectful way to ask for discretion in everyday situations. They are also part of a broader effort to help organizations recognize and support privacy preferences more consistently.
We believe small signals can make interactions easier, clearer, and more respectful. A card will not solve every privacy concern, but it can help reduce unnecessary exposure in moments where people may otherwise hesitate.
